AOLN: August Escapades

AOLN: August Escapades

And August is over guys. The official mark of the end of summer, the Alaska State Fair is here. That means it’s fall. Oh and the icy fact that it is dropping into the upper 30’s and low 40’s at night. Boo.

Symphony Lake

So I’ve had a couple little Alaska adventures this month. Made the trek to Eagle and Symphony Lakes, which is near my house and the trek to Crystal Lake which ended up being cut shorter than planned due to wretched weather.

Crystal Lake

I created a few lists this month which all did pretty well. My ‘6 People I Hate on Airplanes’ did extremely well and was shared quite a bit (for me anyways) and was even featured on Ed Pizzarello’s travel blog Pizza in Motion.

Toward the end of July I was interviewed by Luke Marlin over at Anti Travel Guides about my travels on Socotra Island as well as mainland Yemen, which was fun seeing that it was my first time being interviewed.

I was featured in a blog post about my blog by Live Travel & Blog which was a pleasant surprise. You can read the post here. At least she finds my writing entertaining and I really appreciate the sharing!

I did something new this month and started a couple of post series. The first being ‘The not-so-glamorous side of travel’ where I try to entertain you with my unpleasant experiences while traveling. The other I started a couple days ago, where I rank on movies I hate that have created fear towards travel.

I had a few little things to celebrate this month: I made my 50th blog post, I’ve made 21 cents travel blogging and I made a profile for my blog over at Bloglovin’. So please feel free to follow me there if that’s a platform you use.

I also made a satirical travel guide on my hometown (that I currently still live in). I feel like this could be ongoing and I can re-make this every so often for laughs. It also did well in the social media world (and yet again, by my, new blogger standards).

I also dug back to 2013 and wrote a handful of posts on my travel in Borneo as well as finished a couple destination pages on Borneo. I’ve been slacking in the destination page sector this month. Maybe I’ll get more done next month since we’re going into fall. I also managed to write a couple posts about Anchorage, Alaska including free things to do and local breweries.

I also entertained people with some of my rantings on a few posts as well as just being my weird little self.

So we’ll see what September holds. It is going to be another busy month. I’ll be going out to Eureka with Grant to pick blueberries while he caribou hunts. I also will be headed out to Kantishna, at the end of 91 mile road that goes through Denali National Park. I also plan to head out to the Alaska State Fair to gather some info to write on it. Beyond that who knows what could happen. Then on September 30th Grant and I fly down to Las Vegas for a few days (not by my choice) and then over to Maui on October 5th for my good friends, Sally and Jesse’s wedding.

Lil Nicki and RKallday: Vegas day 1, done right.
