Post Series: The Not So Glamorous Side of Travel.
Bee Stings & Pissin in Bushes.
So….
Once upon a time I was in middle-of-nowhere, Zambia.
We stopped the truck for a toilet break. And since we were in middle-of-nowhere, Zambia we had to hike off the road and go pee in the bushes.
Ok, nothing out of the ordinary to me. I think I’ve peed outdoors more often than indoors growing up in Alaska. I am 100% confident saying that this is one of my best talents.
So there I am, shorts around my ankles, squatted down in mid-pee position.
And I get stung in the side of my head by a bee!
There I am minding my own in business in Africa peeing in the bushes and a bee assaults me.
WTF BEE?!?!?
I thought we were cool. But I guess not. Dirty move Mr. Bee, dirty move.
So the most terrifying part of this all: I’ve managed to make it 28 years along in my humanhood and had NEVER been stung by a bee until then.
It didn’t hurt as bad as I had thought it would, gauging by the amount of times I saw my brother, cousins and friends run over hives and get the living shit stung out of them. I was always that spectator there to point and laugh. Karma’s time had finally come and it blasted me in the side of my head.
Long story short: Not allergic to bees.

Ouch! On the head is really harsh… but it’s could have been worse, I reckon a sting on your bum would’ve been more embarrassing, especially if you couldn’t sit down for a while!
Haha that would’ve been slightly more awkward.
